Studio - making tracks

The Hoot studio aims to make it easy for people to start writing and recording their own music and learning about music technology. We have a spacious, well lit and informal studio environment with the emphasis more on people than technology, yet it is still equipped with up-to-date fixed and laptop computer recording facilities and music production software as well as with a range of instruments including drums and guitars.

Participants can develop skills and experience writing a song, putting together recorded or electronic backing tracks, and all aspects of recording and producing a CD. We can also support people to develop skills in computer-based recording and music production techniques, dj skills, video production and uploading creative media onto the internet. We have well developed links with other local media training and development agencies and can support people who want to access formally accredited music and media training.

Hoot offers:

One-to-one studio sessions for everyone, from a fragment of an idea to a fully formed song.

Mobile recording working with your group or agency to record spoken word or music based projects, produce and market CD.

DJ skills and music technology taster sessions or short courses delivered at the studio or in an agency setting.

Rock School working with groups of people to develop instrumental skills, play together as a band, write, record and perform songs.

Video Projects working with a group to develop video recording and production skills, develop storylines and develop promotional videos featuring your community groups or agency.
