Hoot offers opportunities for people to develop skills particular to working with music and dance groups to promote health, both as volunteers and artists. Our volunteer programme offers a 20 week training programme and placement scheme allied to personal supervision designed to help participants develop the skills, experience and confidence that will equip them to support us in the delivery of our artistic programme, as well as the wide range of skills required to run a dynamic arts organisation.
Associate artists can develop new skills relevant to working in mental health settings and other similar groups through in-house training sessions. We can also provide opportunities for less experienced artists and volunteers to work alongside more experienced artists as ‘apprentices’ and to receive mentoring and support to allow them to develop confidence and expertise. Hoot also offers training for health and community agencies to consider how music, dance and creative projects can be used in their work.
